Spring 2023 Symposia: Queer Liberation in International Law

The Cardozo International & Comparative Law Review and the Cardozo Journal for Equal Rights & Social Justice are pleased to host a hybrid symposium on how global movements navigate and employ international law in pursuit of queer liberation. Introduced by Cardozo Dean Leslie, this symposium will explore how international law may subjugate or protect queer populations, how domestic efforts interact with international law, and how constitutional laws and
international law must evolve for exhaustive social justice.

 

This symposium will feature The Global Evolution of Queer Liberation Movements at 10:00 AM with Brenda Cossman
Alexandra Lily Kather, Po Han Lee, Stewart Chang and Ryan Thoreson. Global Frontiers: The Future of Queer Rights and Liberties at 2:00 PM with Erez Aloni, Noa Ben-Asher, Nick Leddy, Akshat Agarwal and Samy Nemir Olivares. Queer Palenstein and the Empire of Critique at 12:30 PM with Sa'ed Atshan. LGBTQIA+ Rights & Illiberal Backlash in the European Union at 4:30 PM with Susanna Mancini.

 

Note on CLE credit:This program of two panels is approved for up to 2.0 transitional/non-transitional New York
State CLE credits in the category “Areas of Professional Practice”and 2.0 non-transitional credits in the category “Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias.” To receive CLE credits for a panel, you must attend that part of the program“live.” We cannot award CLE credits for watching a recorded version of any part of this program.
